Cherokee Youth Basketball

“The MISSION of Cherokee Youth Basketball is to provide a safe and competitive learning environment for recreational players of all ability that develops athletic character, sportsmanship, and teamwork.”

Cherokee Youth Basketball is your local recreational basketball league that is open to all eligible Cherokee County residents (kids in grades K/1st through 12th).  This basketball league has over 4,000 players throughout our county playing basketball every season.  Through the strategic partnership with the Cherokee County School District, players in grades K-5 are able to represent their current elementary school; players in grades 6-8th grade are able to represent the high school that they will attend, and players in grades 9-12th are required to form their own rosters and register as a team.  Each player is given a complete reversible uniform (jersey and shorts), along with a 10 game regular season schedule that will begin the first weekend in December.  Sample uniforms are available at the recreation center for players to try on prior to the end of registration (August-October).  Teams are assigned one-week night practice each week and games are played on Friday nights and Saturdays.

We are always in search of volunteer coaches and gym directors.  If you are interested in being a volunteer coach or gym director, you will need to register through our website as well.  Please see below our resource section that will help you with more information about our league.  Our League Handbook has a lot of information about how our league is setup and run throughout the season.  Our Calendar of Events will show you important dates throughout the season to make future plans easier on your family.  Our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page has common question that are asked every year. Our Rules Matrix has specific playing rules for each grade level along with basketball size that will be used.
